| It's been more than a year since I last posted, but that doesn't surprise me. The last few entries I posted had been written after a lengthy "leave of absence" and probably all included a promise of updating more often.
But I was trying to find some "have you ever..." questions for an activity practicing the past perfect with my students and that reminded me of the surveys community on LiveJournal from which I had taken many surveys way back in... high school?
So what has happened in the past year and a half? A LOT. I had been in Korea for about four months when I last wrote in here. Now it's been 22 months -- almost two years! Wow! Time sure does go by quickly. I also had the same job, so nothing new in that department. So what is new? Well, I have a boyfriend! My first one was back in university and my second was last year in January. I've dated quite often since then, but 문성 is the first guy I have called my "boyfriend" since then. We started dating on January 10th, so it's been about two and a half months. One more month and that is just as long as my only other two relationships!
He is two years older than me and was working as a hair designer. But that work is a LOT more taxing and difficult than people not involved in that business think. 12-20 hour work days, sometimes without even a break... I couldn't do it! So he quit the day before my birthday and is considering going back to school and is trying to find a part-time job in the meantime. Oh, and did I mention that he doesn't speak English? ^^ I've dated guys who don't speak English, but those only lasted UP to four dates. He's extremely patient with me and will repeat or rephrase what he says multiple times without sounding irritated. And, most importantly, he doesn't make fun of my Korean!
Last week, I spent my first birthday with a boyfriend. I was so excited that I could barely sleep the night before and the whole day at school seemed soooo long. It felt like the night before Christmas, haha. He took me to a nice French restaurant (he thought I liked steak, but it was okay because they had pasta, too). After dinner, the waiter came out with a plate of two brownies and ice cream decorated in chocolate syrup saying, "크리스틴 생일축하해" (Happy Birthday, Kristin). He then gave me a gift, which was a really pretty, dainty 14k gold necklace with a butterfly pendant. I don't normally like gold jewelry, but this was gorgeous! My friend said that gold is even more expensive in Korea, so that necklace probably cost around 200,000won. That's a rather expensive gift for only having been together for two months! Better start thinking what I should get for him in August!!
Well, I need to make copies and get prepared for fourth period's class, so I better end here. will I update before another year and a half goes by? Who knows...! - Mood:content
